Default Litigation Paralegal
Locations: Rochester
Requirements and Duties:
- Strong proofreading, organizational and motivational skills required
- 2+ years of experience preferred in assisting attorneys handling default services litigation or general litigation
- Maintain client systems and correspond with clients on a regular basis
- Correspond with Courts
- Draft, Review and File Motions and other litigation related pleadings
- Handle all aspects of Answers and other contested pleadings
- Calendar Court hearings and prepare attorneys for hearings and process results
- Schedule and prepare Attorney for Trial and Traverse Hearings
- Handle Surrogates proceedings
- Handle Quiet Title Actions
- Efiling
- Maintain and track hourly billing
- Process defensive litigation motions (such as orders to show cause, oppositions, cross-motions, motions to vacate, motions to dismiss, etc.) and assist attorney in preparing responsive pleadings
- Calendar Court hearings and prepare attorneys for hearings and process results
- Handle all appellate matters
- Handle all code-violation matters
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrate a high level of independence and legal acumen with a friendly demeanor.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and someone who possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills is a must.
- Strong written and oral communication skills are required. Specific experience representing default services lenders is a plus.
- Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, team-oriented atmosphere
- Self-initiative to create efficiencies and good processes within the department
Qualified applicants should have experience in the default services area, preferably in ligation and should have basic knowledge of the foreclosure process.
Compensation: starting at $20.00 – $21.00 per hour
